L1 and Majune Concessions

Safrique has exclusive ecotourism concessions in the rugged and semi-mountainous Niassa Province, which is nestled in the northwestern corner of Mozambique. It is bordered by Lake Malawi which is the southern most lake in the Great Rift Valley. Safrique’s exclusive concessions in the province include Block L1/Nkalapa Management Unit in the Niassa Reserve. Our second area is the Majune Management Area in the south central part of the province.

The Nkalapa Management Unit is located in the western part of Niassa National Reserve and covers an area of approximately 3,308 square kilometres. Designated internally as a Resource Conservation Area by the Mozambique government Safrique conducts photographic and conservation hunting safaris from its remote, but comfortable tented camps. The area encompasses the Jau Mountains with the Luatize and Luccise Rivers running through it creating lush riverine forests. The area supports a spectrum of wildlife including elephant, lion, leopard, buffalo, hippo, crocodile, sable, reedbuck, kudu, bushbuck, waterbuck, eland, warthog, bushpig, hyena, duiker and baboons. Unique species to the Niassa Province include Lichtenstein's hartebeest and Niassa Wildebeest.

The Majune Management Unit is located in the southern part of the Niassa Province. This area is exclusively utilized by Safrique as a hunting conservation area. Like Block L1 this unit supports the Big 4 as well as crocodile and hippo.
